Norsteel does more than supply and erect new pre-engineered steel buildings. We also assess, troubleshoot, repair, modify, retrofit, and expand existing steel buildings, including buildings we didn’t originally supply or erect.
If you have an older steel building, a roof leak, damaged cladding, structural issues, or want to make changes, we can help you figure out what you have and what you might need. You don’t need the original drawings or to know who built it. We can work with the building as it stands.
When an Existing Steel Building Needs Attention
Pre-engineered steel buildings are designed as complete systems. The roof, wall panels, secondary steel, structural frame, bracing, fasteners, sealants, and connections all work together.
That means a problem that looks simple isn’t always limited to one spot. A leak may not be entering where the water shows up inside. A large overhead door isn’t always as simple as cutting a new opening. Changing or removing bracing can affect other parts of the structure.

Building Condition Reviews
We inspect existing pre-engineered steel buildings when owners have concerns about damage, leaks, deterioration, previous repairs, or the overall condition of the structure.
Roof Leaks and Metal Roofing
We look at roofing panels, laps, fasteners, sealants, flashing, penetrations, and other areas where water may be entering. From there, we can help determine whether the issue needs a repair, replacement, or larger roof retrofit.
Wall Panels and Cladding
Norsteel can assist with damaged wall panels, aging cladding, flashing, trim, closures, fasteners, and sealants. We also help with re-cladding when an older building needs an exterior update.
Structural and Opening Changes
We can assess concerns involving columns, rafters, purlins, girts, bracing, connections, and other components. We can also review existing openings when customers want to add, enlarge, or change overhead doors, windows, or access points.
Modifications and Retrofits
If your building needs to change, we can help assess what is possible. This may include new openings, larger overhead doors, roof changes, re-cladding, insulation upgrades, building envelope updates, or other modifications to more appropriately serve the building's use.

We begin with the building as it is today. We look at the issue, the site, the information available, and what the owner is trying to repair, change, or understand.

Problem Area Assessment
We assess the area of concern, whether it is a leak, damaged panel, structural component, opening, roof system, cladding issue, or previous repair.

Repair Plan
Some issues can be repaired directly. Others may need engineered review, replacement materials, or a larger retrofit plan. We help sort out what makes sense for the building and the scope.

Work Coordination
Once the approach is clear, Norsteel can help coordinate the work, materials, crews, plus any required engineering support.

Repair or Modification
Once the plan is in place, we help carry out the repair, retrofit, modification, or expansion properly. The work may be simple or more involved depending on the building, available information, and what needs to be corrected.
